Isaac's day at the Zoo!
Strong Hands and Loving Hearts
As I studied this morning about the Martin and Willie handcart companies my heart is deeply touched and although also grateful those days of pioneering are behind us... know there are many in this day deeply in need of help. My heart twists around the concept of the importance of strong hands and loving hearts needed and allows the question to arise...Am I my brother's keeper?

Warm and Cozy
I guess it's that time of year, the leaves starting to fall and mornings that you hear yourself saying "Brrr" while loading the kiddo's for school!
The perfect remedy... a warm fireplace, a cozy blanket, and a wonderful book to get lost in.

(this is one great book...this month at deseret you can get the TOFW discount)
Can't help but feel excited inside as this season starts to creep in!!!

Best Homemade Granola
7 cups rolled oats
2 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour (ground)
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 cup sunflower seeds
2 c. dried fruit (i use cranberries) you can mix it up with more than one kind
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup almonds (or whatever nuts you like)
1 cup non-fat dry milk
In blender mix
1 cup oil
1 T. salt
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 t. vanilla
1 1/2 t. maple syrup
Add slowly to dry ingredients while mixing, mix thoroughly. Divide between 3 cookie sheets. I like to make mine in "big clusters".
( I use a bosch blender and mixer with cookie attachment.)
Bake at 250* for 45 minutes, stirring 3 times (every 15 min.) Mixture is still soft and moist when removed from oven. Cool. When dry and crisp, place in airtight container.
