Lessons & Snuggles

Something special about tucking our little ones in at night...
This happened Saturday evening:
I have a son who is 9 yrs. old.  After evening prayer I told him that I wanted him to be in bed by 9pm to prepare for the Sabbath the next day and that I would be in to tuck him in around that time.  When I went to tuck him in at 9:20 I noticed he was still playing. I called his name and asked, "How obedient where you in what I asked you to do by 9pm?"  He only said two words, "Not very."  He then quickly got ready for bed and I was able to tuck him in.

Each night while tucking the children in I ask them what their favorite thing about the day was.  I listen and then I tell that child what my favorite thing about them was!  I explained to my little boy that evening that my favorite thing about him that day wasn't all the fun we  had together at the park, (even though it was super fun) that it was that he only answered my question in two words ("not very") when he was found not being committed to our agreement.  I told him I was impressed how he didn't make any excuses and just owed up. I then explained how when we are honest within it doesn't take lengthy sentences.  This was a special teaching moment, more for me than him I think.  He is one special little boy whom I love with all my heart!  I love the humbleness of children when they are being taught how to be the best version of themselves.
